Director, Equipment Operations San Francisco 49ers
Jay Brunetti is in his sixth season with San Francisco and third as the director, equipment operations. He spent the previous three seasons with the 49ers as the team’s equipment manager. He is responsible for the many details that go into filling an NFL team’s daily needs. These needs include outfitting players and coaches in safe and advanced equipment, as well as ordering and maintaining all of the team’s equipment and sideline apparel. Brunetti and his staff also transport team equipment to and from all games, as well as assist coaches with daily practice needs.
Prior to joining the 49ers, Brunetti served as director of equipment services with the Houston Texans from 2001-14. With Houston, Brunetti’s responsibilities included purchasing, upkeep and repair of all player and coach equipment while overseeing the transportation of equipment to away games.
Brunetti joined the Texans from Washington, where he spent 26 years with the team. He originally joined Washington’s organization on a part-time basis in 1975 as a freshman in high school. Brunetti became a full-time assistant in 1979 before becoming the youngest equipment manager in the NFL in 1981 at the age of 19. During his tenure with Washington, the team advanced to four Super Bowls and won three World Championships with Brunetti heading the equipment staff. His distinguished career includes working with 20 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Brunetti is also a charter member of the Professional Football Equipment Managers Society (PFEMS).
Brunetti and his wife, Linda, have three children: two sons, Jimmy and Drew, and a daughter, Tori.
