Dr. Charles A, Popkin, MD
Dr. Popkin is an orthopedic surgeon with Columbia Doctors and is an attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He specializes in sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip for the pediatric, adolescent, and collegiate athlete.
With dual fellowships in Pediatric Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Dr. Popkin has dedicated his career to the comprehensive treatment and prevention of injury in developing athletes. He has a particular interest in the management of ice hockey injuries, serving as a team physician for USA Hockey, and on the USA Hockey National Safety and Protective Equipment Committee. Dr. Popkin is also the head team physician for: Fordham University, Mercy College, and the Hackley School in Tarrytown.
Born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, Dr. Popkin later went on to attend Colgate University where he played football as a defensive back for the Division I Raiders. He is a life-long hockey fan and, throughout his career, has cared for college hockey teams in both Canada and Minnesota.
