What is the difference between the G8RSkin Lux and G8RSkin Shiesty?
- Lux: 3mm thick, designed to be worn under helmets
- Shiesty: 5mm thick. Offers more protection and can be worn under helmets or standalone (e.g. for flag football, 7v7).
How does G8RSkin perform in the heat?
G8RSkin is lined on the interior with a specialized cooling fabric that reduces heat buildup compared to wearing a helmet alone. Additionally, the G8RSkin features a pocket along the back of the neck for a cooling gel pack, which helps regulate body temperature by cooling high blood flow areas.
Does G8RSkin change helmet sizing?
- G8RSkin Lux: Usually no change
- G8RSkin Shiesty:
- Football: May need to remove air from padding. Conforms after a few minutes.
- Hockey/Lacrosse: May need to size up, depending on brand/model
- Skiing/Biking/Equestrian: Usually requires sizing up
Does G8RSkin void the warranty of the helmet?
No, the G8RSkin does not void the warranty of the helmet. Since it is a separate garment that doesn’t alter the helmet in any way, it’s similar to wearing a regular ski mask or cap, which has no effect on helmet warranty. Further, our testing data shows it improves the performance of the helmet by the very standards the helmets are evaluated.
Does G8RSkin limit range of motion?
No, the G8RSkin does not limit your range of motion. The device is lightweight and pliable and only stiffens upon impact.

Does the G8RSkin remain stiff?
The G8RSkin returns to its normal state instantaneously, so you won’t even notice a change in its flexibility. This allows it to be effective for multiple collisions.
Does the G8RSkin impact hearing ability?
No, the G8RSkin features cut-out holes around the ears, so it doesn’t interfere with your ability to hear.

What is the life of the product? Can it sustain repeated hits over years?
With proper care, the effective life expectancy for the product is around 2-4 years. The same individual G8RSkin was tested for all hits during laboratory testing, showing its ability to hold up under repeated stress.

Yes, the G8RSkin can be machine-washed on a low temperature with the delicate cycle or sanitized by hand. Air dry recommended, tumble dry on low heat only
